UPCOMING EXHIBITION
YUTONG XIE – CZECH LANDSCAPE
exhibition: February 2026
The season at Galerie Fotografic, under the Fotografic Startup platform for the youngest generation of artists, will be launched by Yutong Xie, a graduate of the Documentary Strategies studio at FAMU in Prague. The young artist, originally from China, brings a unique perspective on the transformation of the Czech industrial landscape from an outsider’s point of view. For a photographer who grew up in a post-socialist country, the Czech landscape is both familiar and distant. From an outsider’s perspective, the historical trauma of collective memory, the legacy of social engineering, the remnants of heavy industry, dubious redevelopment, sex tourism, and other borderline industries intertwine to create a divided space.
Yutong Xie (*1999) is a young photographer and cinematographer whose work explores the urban landscape and its peripheries, with a particular focus on revealing the complex connections between history, politics, and the environment in which we live. He received his master’s degree in 2024 from FAMU in Prague. To date, he has exhibited in group exhibitions in Prague and is a recipient of the Hyper Youth Award. He lives and works in Prague.
