DUMMY AWARD’25

Flowers, spiders, and nipples, field research of the urban landscape, a catalog of bald men, excursions into the aftermath of disaster, ecstatic explorations of physicality, detailed studies of architectural morphology, love letters to all darkrooms, obsessive documentation of obscure collections, forgotten stories and reflections on the future, sincere confessions, fascinated testimonies, and photographic jokes. New documentaries, personal diaries, snapshot aesthetics, distinctive artistic works, technological experiments, and wild concepts that don’t fit into any category. Japan, Egypt, the Netherlands, Italy, Ukraine, Iran, or India. 50 artists from around the world, 50 original photography books. That’s the Dummy Award ’25!
Every year, the prestigious international Dummy Award competition brings together the best of unpublished photographic publications. This year, 395 books from 48 countries around the world were submitted. 50 diverse photographic books made it to the shortlist and will be presented in the Czech Republic for the very first time. After Milan, Barcelona, or the festival in Arles, Prague will also become one of the stops on the European Dummy Award Tour. Prague visitors will be able to vote at the Fotografic Gallery and, together with hundreds of other Europeans, select the best dummy of 2025.
The Dummy Award, formerly known as the Kassel Dummy Award, has been organized by the PhotoBookMuseum in Cologne since 2023 and, together with its sponsor and partner MAS Matbaa in Istanbul, provides an international audience with unique access to the latest form of the increasingly popular phenomenon of the photographic book. www.dummyaward.org
