The So Close So Far exhibition being part of Fotograf Festival shows the work of five authors – students and graduates of Photography at FUD, UJEP, Ústí nad Labem. Their photographs comment chiefly on people and their lives. Some lives can seem to us infinitely distant, even if they are lived by people in close proximity to us. Sometimes we become strangers to our own selves. Who are we, really? What is this society that we’re part of?
The photographs deliver unique messages about the world around us. Through their subjectivity they question the seeming objectivity of the media image of reality – the paradigm which makes us see the world in a kind of distant, stereotypical way.
