MARIJA MANDIĆ

Serbian photographer Marija Mandić works mainly with photography, but also with text, drawings and found materials. Her work deals with questions of the past and memory, which she explores primarily through the family context. In her visually poetic project White Bee, she delves into the themes of memory, female identity and family ties, creating a genealogical tree whose roots, surprisingly, go back to the female ancestor, who has a special place in Serbian culture, unlike in Czech culture.

Marija Mandić (*1990) from 2015 to 2019 was a PhD student and external lecturer at the Faculty of Art and Design in Ústí nad Labem (CZ), where she received her PhD in Visual Communication. In 2023 she was selected as a finalist of the Mangelos Award, part of the international network of Young Visual Artists Awards. She received a grant from the VID Foundation and is a recipient of the Dositeja Scholarship, awarded by the Fund for Young Talents of the Republic of Serbia, as well as a grant from the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic. www.mandicmarija.com
