The young Slovak photographer Ema Lančaričová works mainly with analog photography, but through it, she touches upon the most contemporary themes. Her multi-layered project Metanoia is about the urgent need to highlight the debate – what is the medium of photography today? It explores the intersections of photography, surveillance, and artificial intelligence, looks at how algorithms have changed our conception of image, and how artificial intelligence and machine learning are changing our understanding of photography.
Ema Lančaričová (*1993) studied at the Studio of Photography and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. She has presented her work in solo exhibitions at major institutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and has participated in group exhibitions and festivals throughout Europe and Japan. www.emalancaricova.com
