RUDO PREKOP

Exhibition: april 2024

The renowned Slovak photographer Rudo Prekop (a member of the famous Slovak New Wave) works mainly with precise black and white photography in the form of comprehensive conceptually complete sets. He has devoted himself, for example, to detailed studies of still life, photograms, as well as the figure, portrait or time-lapse. His two time-lapse projects, which have not yet been presented in Prague, will be the focus of his exhibition at Galerie Fotografic. In the Amphitheatre series, over a period of ten years, he followed the gradual decay of a summer cinema and, in addition to its physical decay, he also observed the gradual disappearance of generally transferable memories from his childhood. In the second project, he focuses on the changes in the landscape around the former magnetite factory in Košice. In both cases, the series will be complemented by one photograph of the current state of the sites, giving the project an additional dimension.
Rudo Prekop (*1959) studied at FAMU, where he has been the head of the Imaginative Photography Studio for over 20 years. He has held 40 solo exhibitions at home and abroad, participated in more than 200 group exhibitions and projects, and his work is represented in many important public and private collections. www.rudoprekop.cz
